General information

Union Station in Washington D.C. is the main railway station of the United States. The station on Columbus Circle was designed by Daniel Burnham and inaugurated on October 27, 1907. Union Station is one of the busiest and best-known locations in the city, with over 30 million passengers annually.

Transportation

Do you want to explore the American capital or its surroundings? Taxis are available outside the central concourse day and night. You cannot reserve a taxi. Several bus companies leave next to the parking garage, but several city tours also leave from Union Station. Or do you want to rent a car in Washington D.C.? Next to the entrance to the parking garage you'll find several car rental companies like Alamo, Avis, Budget, and Hertz. There's a bike shed where you can also rent bikes and book biking tours.

Services

For questions or lost-and-found objects you can turn to any of the train companies which call at this station. The station also has several information desks. You can store your luggage at Gate A. There's a railroad police as well as ATMs, a bank, a post office, public phones, Wi-Fi, and the station is accessible for the disabled.

Restaurants

There are a few restaurants inside the central concourse, but downstairs there's a Food Court offering a large selection ranging from cake to sushi and from donut shops to hamburger places and pizzerias. Whether you're looking for a sandwich or juice for the road or want to dine sumptuously, there's plenty of choice.

Shops

Do you have some spare time? Washington D.C. has extensive shopping facilities. There's something for everyone downstairs and inside the station's central concourse ranging from jewelers and gift shops to lingerie, accessories, and Barnes and Nobles books. You can, however, also find kiosks, shoemakers, ice-cream parlors, and boutiques.
