Johannesburg International Airport in a nutshell
The airport of Johannesburg is the largest one in South-Africa. The airport was renamed OR Tambo International Airport on October 26, 2006. It processes 13 million passengers each year. That number is expected to grow to 24 million by the year 2015. To handle this growth and to prepare for the 2010 football World Championships, the airport is currently being expanded.
At the moment the airport can only be reached by bus and car, in the future there will also be a rail connection to Johannesburg. The cheapest bus is the minivan. There are two hotels at the airport.
The airport has an extensive supply of shops, bars and restaurants. It has a Business Centre, where you can rent rooms and use fax, computer and secretarial support. In addition, the airport offers the following facilities: banks, exchange offices and ATM machines. Also, there is a medical clinic with doctors, a dentist and physiotherapists. They even provide botox treatments.
