Fontainebleau is a small town with only one main street, the Rue Grande, which runs from the castle to the other side of town. In the center lies the Place de Napoléon Bonaparte. On both sides of the Rue Grande you'll find shops, cafés and restaurants. You can park your rental car near the castle.
Although most visitors don't spend the night in Fontainebleau, the town offers a large choice of accommodations, most of them in the midrange category or higher. An attractive place to stay is the Château de Bourron, 7 kilometers south of Fontainebleau in the middle of the forest.
