General information

Arcachon Train Station lies nearby the beach at 250 meters from the Atlantic Ocean. Arcachon is located 55 kilometers southwest of Bordeaux in France. According to European standards it's a young city as it was only founded by Emperor Napoleon III in May 1857. The city's main attraction is the Dune of Pyla, Europe's largest sand dune, which is no less than 3 kilometers long, 500 meters wide, and even up to 107 meters high. Absolutely worth a visit.

Transportation

Do you want to go to the beach or visit the city's surroundings? Taxis from company Born Taxi can be found on the side of the station; reservations via Tel. 05 56 83 88 88. There are also several city buses leaving from the station. They bring you for example to Arcachon's beaches. Buses run between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m. and are free within the city limits. On the left inside the concourse you can rent a car to explore the surroundings of Arcachon. Do you prefer to move around on two wheels? Opposite the main entrance of the train station you can rent bikes, scooters, and motorbikes at Holiday Bikes and Loca Beach on Avenue du Général Leclerc, numbers 31 and 34. A train ticket gives you a 10% discount at both companies.

Services

Inside the concourse you can buy train tickets from both ticket offices and ticket machines. Besides travel information and a lost-and-found office there are restrooms, soft-drink dispensers, phone booths, a passport photo booth and photocopiers. Do you like Arcachon? There's also a real estate agent at the station.

The train station has a Relay kiosk. This international chain offers a large selection of literature, magazines, newspapers, books and related products.
