Location information for Grenoble Train Station

General information

Grenoble is the capital of the department of Isère and is located in the southeast of France at the foot of the Alps. The city is known because of the Winter Olympics which were organized here in 1968. La Bastille, a series of fortifications on the mountain overlooking Grenoble, is well visible from the city. The cable cars which bring you to La Bastille lie at only 600 meters from Grenoble Train Station. Walk straight ahead along the Isère River and you'll see the cable-car station on your right-hand side.

Transportation

Taxis are available outside the station. You don't need to make a reservation. You can also continue your journey by bus. Both city buses and regional buses depart from the bus station to the left of the main exit. Bus tickets for the city buses can be bought to the right of the station at the streetcar stop. Grenoble also has a streetcar. It stops right next to the station. Tickets can be bought on-site. Or do you prefer to travel through the mountains by car? You can easily rent a car at Grenoble Station. Car rental companies National, Notice, ADA, Hertz, and Europcar are present. If you prefer to ride a bike, you need to go to level -1 where you'll find Metrovelo who rents out bikes.

There are ticket offices and ticket machines. Grenoble Station also has a Wi-Fi hotspot, AED, phone booths, soft-drink dispensers, a passport photo booth, a machine to develop photos, a photocopier, a lost-and-found desk, restrooms, and all facilities for the disabled.

Inside the station you'll find a sandwich bar and an Irish Pub. Or do you fancy a hamburger? Opposite the station you'll find a Quick fast-food restaurant.

Shops

There's a Relay kiosk inside the concourse. This international chain sells magazines, newspapers, books, and related articles. If you have more time, you can cross the street outside the station and go to Avenue Félix Viallet where you'll find several shops.
