General information
Bourg St. Maurice Train Station is located in the French Alps and is the terminus of the St-Pierre-d'Albigny-Bourg-Saint-Maurice line. The town lies close to Albertvillle, where the Winter Olympics took place in 1992. The station, which dates back to 1913, was thoroughly renovated for this occasion. Especially in winter, Bourg St. Maurice is extremely popular. The town lies nearby the well-known ski resort 'Les Arcs'.
Transportation
The station can be reached by regional train, TGV (high-speed train) and Lunéa (night train). During winter months, you can take the Thalys directly from Amsterdam. Two shuttle buses leaving from the station bring you to the mountains. These shuttle buses run in July and August and from December until the end of April. There are also taxis directly outside the station. If you prefer to drive through the mountains yourself, you can rent a car at Bourg St. Maurice Station.
Services
During winter months, from December until the end of April, the local Tourist Information has a desk at the station. There are facilities for the disabled and there's an AED. There are also a lost-and-found office, soft-drink dispensers, phone booths and mailboxes.
Restaurants
Directly opposite the station you'll find Restaurant Edelweiss. If you prefer to go down the road, you can go to Avenue de la Gare, crossing the road diagonally to the left. Here you'll find several restaurants and bars.
Shops
There's also a Relay kiosk offering an extensive selection of books, magazines, international newspapers, postcards, etc. This shop has limited opening hours outside the winter season.
