Nairobi Airport is the largest and busiest airport of East Africa. Apart from visitors to Kenya it's also an important airport for connecting flights to other countries in the region.
The airport is situated 16 kilometers southeast of Nairobi's city center. There's no train connection with the airport, but buses run to the Kenyan capital and other destinations in the country. The airport is easily reachable by car as it lies directly along the freeway to Mombasa.
The airport offers a good number of eating and drinking facilities and there are many shops, including shops with African souvenirs, apparel, jewelry, and Kenyan coffee. There are several airlines lounges, but extensive business facilities, including meeting and conference rooms, are only available in the large business hotels in Nairobi. There's one internet café and wireless internet is available at some locations. Other facilities at Nairobi Airport include ATMs, exchange offices, a bank, and a children's playground.
In the aviation industry Nairobi Airport is indicated by the abbreviations NBO (IATA airport code) and HKJK (ICAO airport code).
