Reina Sofia (Tenerife Sur) is the busiest and largest airport of Tenerife, where many holiday flights take off and land. In the north of the island there is a smaller airport - Los Rodeos - which is used primarily for flights to the other Canary Islands and to the Spanish mainland. The airport is located 60 kilometres to the south-west of the capital Santa Cruz and 16 kilometres to the east of Playa de Las Américas. The airport processes nine million passengers a year.

Keep in mind that the Canary Islands have a separate status, which means that the export of tobacco and alcohol is subject to restrictions. On the other hand, the prices are considerably lower than they are on the Spanish mainland. On the first floor there is a VIP Lounge, which can be organised in various ways for meetings and conferences. There are also facilities like fax, telephone and computers with Internet connection. There is a bank, a post office, a pharmacy a First Aid station, and in the central hall there is a play area for children. The airport is accessible to disabled people.
