Eleftherios Venizelos International Airport - the official name of Athens Airport - is a very modern airport. It was opened in 2001, and it is an important hub for the entire Balkans and the Middle East. The airport processes some 13 million passengers a year. The two terminals are connected by an underground passage. The airport is located 33 kilometres to the south-east of Athens.
Athens Airport is easy to reach, both by train, bus and by car. There is one hotel at the airport, which lies within walking distance of the terminal building, but there is also a shuttle bus.
The new airport has an extensive supply of shops, bars, cafés and restaurants. The Skyview bar offers a spectacular view of the airport grounds. There is a Business Centre, where you can rent offices with telephone, fax and a computer with Internet connection, and there are also smaller meeting rooms. There are large rooms for rent, but they have to be booked in advance. In addition, there are various locations at the airport with wireless Internet.
