Since Domodedovo International Airport was privatised in 1996, it has become the Russian capital's most important airport. The airport is located 35 kilometres to the south of Moscow and it is growing fast. In 2005, the airport processed 15 million passengers. In the coming years the existing terminal T1 and T2 will be expanded and two new terminals (T3 and T4) will be added, allowing the airport to process 35 million passengers each year.
There is a train connection between the airport and a station in Moscow, travel time is 40-50 minutes. There also high-speed bus connections to the southern part of the city, travel time is about 20-30 minutes. To get to the metro station, you can use one of the minivans.
There is a hotel at the airport, located at about half a kilometre from the terminal and reachable by shuttle bus. The airport has a large number of shops, restaurants, (snack) bars and cafés, including a genuine Russian restaurant, 'Old City'. At the VIP Lounge there are offices and meeting rooms for 10 to 20 people. In addition, many airlines have their own lounges. There are banks, exchange offices, cash machines and a post office. In addition, there is a chapel and a mosque. In the International departure hall there are free Internet computers. In the shopping area there is an Internet café and free wireless Internet is available everywhere.
