Already in the 11th century Tampere was an important trading post, but the city continued to grow, especially with the arrival of the textile industry in the late 18th century. The city's surroundings are beautiful: lakes and forests that invite you to undertake all kinds of activities, such as long hikes, swimming, fishing or sailing. The city itself has a beautiful cathedral, but one of the biggest attractions is the Särkänniemi amusement park, which has a dolphinarium. Tampere is located in the southwest of Finland, along a water connection between two lakes: the Näsijärvi Lake north of the city and the Pyhäjärvi Lake south of the city.
