Munich Airport in a nutshell
The official name of the airport of Munich in the south of Germany is Franz Josef Strauss International Airport. It is the second most important airport of the country and processes almost 30 million passengers a year. In 2005 and 2006 it was declared the 'best airport of Europe', and the third best in the world. The airport is located 28 kilometres to the north-east of the city and it can be reached by train, bus and car. There is a hotel at the airport.
There is a large number of cafés, bars, restaurants and shops. The central area for eating, drinking and shopping is situated between the two terminals. This is also where main events and exhibitions are organised. There is a business centre where you can hire exclusive VIP Lounges. The airport is very accessible to disabled people. Other facilities: banks, exchange offices, ATM's, a post office, a big medical centre, a pharmacy, a dentist, play areas for children and shower facilities. Throughout the airport there is wireless Internet.
