Introduction
Newark is the largest city of the American state of New Jersey and is an important economic center, however, the city is often being surpassed by its bigger neighbor New York.

The stake of (manufacturing) industry has been reduced, though, there is still a large brewery of beer giant Anheuser-Busch. Airports
About three kilometers from the south of the city center lies the Newark Liberty International Airport. It is an important airport for national and international air traffic, being used by budget airlines as an alternative to the New York airports.
Public transport
The public transport of Newark consists of bus services and a light rail system. For visitors, mainly the light rail connection between Penn Station and Broad Street Station is interesting, stops of this line include Central Street (at the Waterfront Park) and Washington Park (in front of the Newark Museum). Buses run very frequently and take you to every destination of downtown Newark, the suburbs and the various university campuses.
Traffic and parking
Newark can be reached perfectly by car, however, traffic in downtown Newark can be very busy, especially on working days. Therefore it is better to park your car on one of the Park & Ride sites and continue by public transport. There is a large P&R site to the north of the city, at the light rail Grove Street terminal.
As in most American cities the streets are laid out on a grid plan. This pattern is being interrupted by major roads which often are named after the towns to which they lead, South Orange Avenue, Springfield Avenue and Bloomfield Avenue.
