Introduction
Reus is a picturesque little town in Catalonia, north of the popular tourist destination Salou. If you want to escape the bustle of Salou, but still want to enjoy the beautiful beaches and wild nature in this region, then Reus is an excellent choice. The city is also the birthplace of Gaudí; in 2007 a Gaudí Museum opened.

The city has over 100,000 inhabitants.
Location
Reus is located in the northeast of Spain, in the autonomous region of Catalonia. It's only a few kilometers from the Mediterranean Sea, just north of the seaside resort Salou. The distance to Barcelona is 111 kilometers.
Economy
Reus is an important commercial center. For centuries a large cattle market was held annually. The market is no longer exclusively cattle; nowadays various products are being traded.
Tourism is getting increasingly more important: visitors like to stroll around the historical city center. Not only for the cozy atmosphere, but also because Reus is a shopper's paradise.
Airports
Reus airport lies on the east of the city. Charter airline Ryanair flies from this airport to various European destinations. The airport is easily accessible by rental car: from the city center follow the Avenida de Tarragona. On highways AP-7 (toll road) and A-7 the exit to Reus airport is clearly indicated.
Public transportation
Reus has good public bus transportation. The eleven bus lines cover every part of the city and there is also a bus from the city center to the airport. Furthermore, there are regional buses to Salou, Tarragona and Barcelona amongst others.
Traffic and parking
Driving around in Reus is no problem: the traffic in the city is not as busy as in Barcelona for example, and to find a parking spot for your rental car is also not difficult.
Furthermore, there are excellent road links to the rest of Spain: the Autopista del Mediterraneo (AP-7, toll road) along the Spanish east coast, runs right next to Reus.
Hotels
There is a limited supply of hotel rooms in Reus. So it is important to book your accommodation well in advance, especially during high season (summer). It is expected that in the coming years the number of accommodations in Reus will increase.
