Prestwick is located in South Ayrshire, Scotland, also known as the Golf Coast. Near the city are many high quality golf courses, often with breathtaking views. Furthermore Prestwick Airport is used as a training center for pilots of British Airways among others. Tourism also plays a prominent role. Prestwick is surrounded by some of the best golf courses in Great Britain and historic Ayr also draws many visitors.
Glasgow Prestwick Airport is located two kilometers northeast of the town. It is a budget airline destination and Ryanair has a maintenance hangar there. The airport has a train station and is easily accessible by rental car. It is situated along the A79, just north of Prestwick and right across the Prestwick Golf Club.
There are eight local bus routes to destinations in both Prestwick and Ayr. There is also a regular bus service (every thirty or sixty minutes) to Buchanan Street in Glasgow.
