Location information for Bilbao Airport

Car rental Bilbao Airport (BIO)
Bilbao Airport in a nutshell
Like the city of Bilbao itself, the airport has undergone a veritable face lift. In 2000, the new terminal was inaugurated. It was designed by the architect Santiago Calatrava, and it represents a pigeon in flight. There are fears, however, that the airport will soon be too small for the growing number of passengers. The airport processes mainly domestic flights. Most international flights are carried out by budget airline EasyJet.
The airport is located 12 kilometres to the north of Bilbao, in the Loiu district. Every 30 minutes there is a bus service to the centre of the city. There are no hotels at the airport.
The shopping and food area of the airport are fairly extensive. There are enough restaurants, cafés and bars. There are limited conferencing facilities at the airport and there are two VIP-Lounges in Departures. In addition, there is a bank and there are ATM's in various locations. Also, there is wireless Internet.
In the aviation industry Bilbao Airport is indicated with the abbreviations BIO (IATA airport code) and LEBB (ICAO airport code).
