Introduction
Tivat is a seaport town in Montenegro, known for its beautiful flowers. It's got a wonderful botanic garden containing plants and flowers from all over the world. The town is also developing as a tourist attraction, especially as a mooring place for luxurious pleasure yachts. The Canadian billionaire Peter Munk intends to turn Tivat into 'the Monaco of the Adriatic Sea' with the construction of Porto Montenegro. Pretty bays and beaches can be found close to the town.

The town has over 15,000 inhabitants.
Location
Tivat is located southwest of Montenegro, in the Bay of Kotor and at the foot of mount Vrmac.
Economy
Tivat mainly focuses on tourism, and especially those tourists who bring in cash. The former naval port has been renamed Porto Montenegro and, once completed, will accommodate 800 pleasure yachts. 150 mooring places have been reserved for mega yachts. The airport also plays an important role in local economy.
Airports
Tivat's airport is situated at three kilometers south of the city center. It's mainly used in summer months by charter and budget companies. The airport is easily reachable by rental car. Tivat Airport lies just off highway E65 which runs right across town.
Public Transport
There are several bus connections with places in the vicinity of Tivat, such as Radovici, Krasici, Lepetane and the flower island Brda.
Traffic and Parking
Tivat is a small town and it's not difficult to find your way around in a rental car. There are also plenty of parking facilities, for example near the harbor. When exploring the surroundings by rental car, you need to bear in mind that some inland roads are extremely bad. Montenegro is working on improving the highway system.
Hotels
Tivat has a modest supply of hotels, among which a small but luxurious four star hotel. Other accommodation in Tivat mainly consists of apartments and rooms in private houses. In the tourist village Budva, south of Tivat, you'll find a bigger supply of accommodations. If you want to visit Tivat in the summer, we recommend booking your accommodation in advance.
