Lille (called Rijsel in Flemish) is the capital city of the region Nord-Pas-de-Calais. The city is often overlooked by tourists, but unfairly so. Lille has an attractive historical center with the Place du Général-de-Gaulle, often called Grand'place for short, as its center point. In the former exhibition hall, between the square and Place du Théâtre, is a large market where mostly flowers and books are sold.
