Vancouver International Airport in a nutshell

The airport is located 13 kilometres to the south of Vancouver. There are three terminals. The international and domestic terminals are connected via a covered hallway. In addition, there is a separate 'South Terminal' that is only used by smaller regional airlines with flights to destinations within British Columbia. In the coming years there is a lot of construction work planned to get the airport ready for the 2010 Winter Olympics.

At the moment, work is underway on a high-speed connection between the centre of Vancouver and the airport. The airport is easy to reach by bus and car. The exit to the airport is clearly indicated. There is one hotel at the airport. In the surrounding area there are more hotels.

There is an excellent supply of shops and places to eat and drink, throughout the terminal building, both before and after customs. The hotel at the airport of Vancouver offers business services. The airport is very accessible to disabled people. Throughout the terminal there are ATM machines, exchange offices and banks. There is a post office, and wireless Internet is available everywhere. An interesting detail are the wooden sculptures - including totem poles - from the indigenous population of British Columbia.
